What Are Basket Strainers?
A basket strainer is a high flow strainer, mainly used on water and process lines, built around a large screen with a generous open screen area. Fluid enters the housing, passes through the basket, and any solids larger than the mesh openings stay trapped inside, protecting pumps, valves, and other equipment downstream. Because the screen area is large, basket strainers hold more debris between cleanings than a comparably sized inline strainer, which suits lines carrying a heavier or more continuous particle load.

Applications of Basket Strainers

Frequently Asked Questions About Basket Strainers
A basket strainer is fitted inline in an external housing on the pipeline and is removed for cleaning. A suction strainer is a smaller strainer fitted directly onto the suction pipe or submerged inside the reservoir, protecting the pump from solids already present in the tank.
Our standard suction strainers use 149 micron stainless steel wire mesh with adhesive bonding. Other micron ratings are available on request.
Yes. Basket strainers can be supplied in a duplex configuration with a changeover arrangement, so cleaning can be carried out without stopping flow, similar to our duplex fabricated filters.
Our basket strainers and suction strainers use stainless steel screen construction. Suction strainers come with a standard aluminium diecast nut, with a fully stainless steel build available on request.
