Madhav Filtcare & Hydraulics is a Suction Strainer Manufacturer in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India, providing reliable suction filtration solutions for hydraulic and lubrication reservoirs. Installed directly on the pump suction pipe inside the reservoir, our suction strainers help prevent rust, weld slag and other solid contaminants from entering the pump.
Our suction strainers are manufactured using stainless steel wire mesh, with a standard 149-micron filtration rating and additional micron ratings available according to application requirements. Standard models are available with aluminium die-cast nuts, while fully stainless steel construction can also be supplied for specific industrial applications.
What Is a Suction Strainer?
A suction strainer is a compact, submerged strainer fitted onto the end of the suction pipe inside a hydraulic or lubrication reservoir, ahead of the pump. Its stainless steel wire mesh screen catches rust, weld slag, packing material, and other debris that can sit inside a tank, especially in a newly commissioned system or one that has recently been cleaned or refilled. Because a pump starved of clean fluid or fed with abrasive solids can suffer cavitation or premature wear, a correctly sized suction strainer is one of the simplest ways to protect it.
Suction Strainers Compared With Basket Strainers
Both products protect equipment from solids, but they are installed differently. A suction strainer is submerged inside the reservoir on the pump’s suction pipe, sized to keep pressure loss low so the pump is never starved of fluid. A basket strainer, by contrast, sits inline in an external housing on a pipeline outside the tank, with a removable basket that is lifted out for cleaning. See our Basket Strainers page for that product’s full specification.
Suction Strainer Technical Specifications
Our standard suction strainers use stainless steel wire mesh, adhesive bonded, rated at 149 micron, with other micron ratings available on request. The standard build uses an aluminium diecast nut, with a fully stainless steel construction available on request. Maximum working temperature is 100 degrees Celsius.

Applications of Suction Strainers
Suction strainers are fitted inside hydraulic power pack reservoirs, lubrication tanks, and gearbox reservoirs, protecting pumps from tank borne contamination. They matter most right after a tank is cleaned, refilled, or commissioned, when loose debris is most likely to be sitting near the suction pipe, and they continue to guard the pump through the system’s ongoing operation across machine tool, power, and process industries in Ahmedabad and Gujarat.
Frequently Asked Questions About Suction Strainers
Yes. Madhav Filtcare & Hydraulics manufactures suction strainers in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, for hydraulic reservoirs, lubrication tanks and industrial fluid filtration systems. Different sizes and filtration options can be provided according to application requirements.
Yes. We supply suction strainers from Ahmedabad to industrial customers across Gujarat and other regions of India. Customers can share their suction pipe size, filtration requirement and application details for suitable product selection.
A hydraulic suction strainer is installed on the pump suction line inside a hydraulic reservoir. It helps prevent rust, weld particles and other solid contaminants from entering the pump and damaging hydraulic system components.
Our suction strainers are commonly available with 149-micron stainless steel wire mesh. Other micron ratings can also be considered depending on the filtration requirement and industrial application.
A suction strainer is generally installed inside a hydraulic or lubrication reservoir on the pump suction line. A basket strainer is normally installed externally in an inline housing and is used to remove solid contaminants from flowing process fluids.
Yes. Suction strainers can be supplied with stainless steel wire mesh and different construction options, including fully stainless steel designs for suitable industrial applications.
The correct suction strainer depends on the suction pipe size, thread connection, required filtration rating, reservoir design and application conditions. Share these details with our team to identify a suitable model.
For a quotation, share the suction pipe size, thread size, required micron rating, fluid type, preferred construction, quantity and application details. Existing samples, photos or drawings can also help us understand the requirement.
