What Are Fabricated Filters?
Fabricated filters are purpose built for inline application on high flow lines, where a cast housing would be impractical to produce at the required size. They are commonly specified for continuous process plants that cannot tolerate flow interruption, and are suitable for mineral oils, synthetic hydraulic liquids, lubrication oils, water, and select chemical applications, depending on the body material and seal selection you choose.
How the Duplex Changeover Works
In a duplex fabricated filter, a changeover lever operates a valve that redirects the fluid stream from the loaded housing to the clean standby housing, without restricting flow through the system. Once flow has been diverted, the loaded housing can be opened, the element removed and cleaned or replaced, and the housing closed again, all while the plant keeps running. This is the same principle used across the filtration industry to avoid unplanned shutdowns on continuous lines, and it is the main reason plants in sectors like power generation, steel, cement, and petrochemicals specify duplex over simplex.
